NGP - Match of the Millennium Snk vs. Cap
The smallest installment of the new saga in both these
companies histories. This may have been the buying factor
for many to get a NGP, whatever the reasons it put NGP on
the gaming map here in the U.S.
Let talk overview, it's pretty much the dreamcast
game in a small package. Pick your characters, win the game
and transfer the points to help you unlock the characters
on the DC, version. Only a pressed, " I have to win
the game now" gamer would see it that way. For us of
a more patient nature it would not, it's more of a "wow,
mini-games, hidden characters and cheesy dialog that cracks
me up" kind a game. Okay don't start the flame mail
yet please, let me at least finish this review... ^_^.
Characters are once again much like the DC version with
a few extras people. Game play is just your basic fighting
game style, with a single and team play mode. The really
key and fun to this game is the mini games or Olympics.
Now you'll have your pick of 2 lovely girls to show you
around the company's camps. Capcom side has Karin, and she'll
try to charm the pants off you with wit and insults (LOL).
Not that the SNK side is any better, your hostess is Rimururu
from SS nice and sweet but this kitty has claws (LOL). Once
you pass the
minor chitchat and rules you can pick from some cool games
to play. Highlight from the SNK side are Jubee's Blade Game,
one of my personal favorites; on the Capcom side you'll
have Felica's DDR style game. Both team will have something
everyone can get into, on you're way out make sure to talk
to the girls for tips and trick on game and insight on their
personal lives.
Graphics on this game are really nice, if you've played
KOF R-2 it all the same sprites. The backgrounds are really
cool, but again most have been take from the R-2 game and
reused. Music is really nice, I find myself at the BGM section
on the option listening to Haohmaru's theme, and I dunno
why.... it's so relaxing.
Uploading system to the DC, you can't unlock anything directly
but you will earn points to buy items at the secret shop.
Also Japanese and US version can play each other, I know
my cousin and I do it all the time and it seems that's the
case with most NGP games. My final judgment is, "must
buy" if not for the witty comments made by Ken Master
about Geese then for the DDR style mini-game. But you could
use the points at least to unlock stuff on your DC version
too.
